2015 Dream Team

2015 Dream Team

ANIMALS!! We are up to our eyeballs in prepping our program for the Critical Animals 2015 Out Of Place Symposium! We have been completely blown away by your innovation, creativity, strangeness and intelligence. You guys are a stone cold pack of art nerds and we CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER! To everyone who submitted thank you so much for taking the time to share your ideas with us; we really are stoked by the incredibly high calibre of artists who have applied and we’ll be announcing the full lineup very soon.

In all this excitement we forgot to introduce you to our two newbies Julia Mendel and Laura Hanlon. They came on board as Co-Directors earlier this year and have been quietly toiling away behind the scenes ever since.

From working with people living in public housing to inmates at a male prison to travelling to the Middle East to produce a documentary, Julia is down to leverage innovative storytelling to voice the story less told. Laura is Newcastle native who recently founded Agora Project Space, an inclusive gallery and studio which supports emerging artists, writers, researchers and practitioners within the contemporary arts. Add to the mix last year’s well seasoned Co-Director Patrick Kelly and you have a winning trio that make The Three Musketeers seem like amateurs.

Look out Newcastle – Critical Animals 2015 is gonna blow your socks off!
