As artists and academic creatures, we may at times shine lights on the structural issues that surround us. But sometimes our lateral collections seem to wall themselves in. Finding ways to do proper praxis based work in grassroots spaces, considering that relation and access are the drivers of success, can make traditional gallery/object art production a lacklustre way of contributing. So what other modes exist? How can we act locally and think globally in our practices? As an artist working on the upcoming OPEN HOUSE project at The Lock Up in October this year, Tim is seeking to test the edges of these questions and will then move into a workshop model, where groups can start generating ideas and solutions to the art and praxis problem. The workshop will consist of relational and group activities and geographically-based brainstorming for local projects.
