With the call-out for Critical Animals 2014 now active, we thought we’d take a moment to introduce you to our Co-Directors.
Eleanor is an arts administrator and emerging writer with an interest in performative and ephemeral art practices. She has written for Runway, Exeunt Magazine, The Melbourne Review and Artery, and has worked for a range of non-profit, government, public and commercial arts organisations including The Australia Council for the Arts, Biennale of Sydney, Art Gallery of South Australia, Ray Hughes Gallery and Damien Minton Gallery. She is a currently undertaking Text Camp, Next Wave’s flagship arts writing mentorship program.
Denise is an emerging arts writer and academic, facing the great abyss that is post-PhD existence. With a background in aesthetics, political philosophy and comparative literature, her involvement with Critical Animals allows her to combine these interests with skills learnt as an arts administrator, lecturer and publications assistant. Her previous workplaces include the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, The National Art School, The University of New South Wales and The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
Patrick is a filmmaker, writer and academic working in Melbourne. He completed his PhD in Creative Media at RMIT in 2013. The filmic practice-led project examined the auratic experience of traditional and contemporary media and he talked about going offline for this study at Critical Animals in 2012 and 2013. Patrick’s interests include technology, design, comedy, culinary arts, practice-led research, ethnography and just about anything to do with media and communication.
